Snarry Rec: Worth It by thesewarmstars
I don't know if you're familiar with
thesewarmstars, but she had a post the other day asking for writing references, and I sent her some links that I had bookmarked.
As a thank you, she wrote a really steamy sex scene inspired by my Snarry Games Icon.
It's a quick read, so if you have time, stop by and let her know how you think she's doing with writing sex scenes.
Title: Worth It

Rating: M
Summary: PWP, essentially. I’m practicing my smut—we’ll see how it goes.
Warnings: HP/SS slash.
Word count: 1,114.

nbc sit down
Ugh... I've seen people complaining lately about the Olympics coverage here in America, and tonight, I DEFINITELY HAVE TO AGREE. CHRIST.
We won the gold medal in the 100m hurdles, okay? Except... it wasn't the girl who was SUPPOSED to win. So do we even interview or talk about the girl who did win the gold? NO! We keep re-playing the footage of the girl who was the favorite, and unfortunately for her, fucked up! Really... it was several minutes after the race before I knew the name of the actual winner!
SERIOUSLY. SIT DOWN NBC. YOUR COVERAGE BLOWS.

fests
It's the fest season again! I signed up for
hp_darkfest and
hd_holidays, which are due in October and November, so I'm afraid there will be no art from me until I finish my assignments.
My submissions will probably be recognizable no matter what, but I'm hoping to challenge myself to something new for these two fests. *prays that it'll all work out*
Comiket was, uh, dizzily hot. Walking under the +32C sun was torture, and there was more walking/standing in line while we finally got in the venue.
But I bought all the books I wanted, so it all paid off.
I find myself no longer interested in the hp section of the Japanese fandom, so I didn't even go check out the h/d at Comiket. Maybe it's just that I was busy checking out other fandom. Or maybe the way the Draco is portrayed over here (by Japanese shippers) isn't the way I see him. Or maybe I was just too exhausted.
While I was looking up FFVII Sephiroth/Cloud circles the other day, I came across this fan-made vid - FFVI parody:
( Final Fantasy VI fan-vid... )

Watchmen
Last night I finished reading Watchmen.
Brief thoughts: HOLY FUCKING SHIT THAT WAS ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING BOOKS I'VE EVER READ.
Long thoughts: Um... I can't really formulate any just yet. So much amazingness to focus on.
But I really want to talk about it with people. So, if you've read it, talk to me about it in comments!
Seriously.... HOMG. And, sorry Harry Potter, but Watchmen is so the movie I'm looking most forward to seeing in 2009. Can it be March 6 yet?
ETA: And hey,
fleurdeliser, this is your call to hurry up and finish it!!!

Sketches for H/D meetup
Looking at my flist posts, it looks like Terminus was a blast. *envies flist*
To participants who got the sketches for the H/D meetup: I truly hope you enjoyed them. :-) Do you mind letting me know who you are? ♥
Work fries my brain and I'm very behind on writing back to people. To that I apologize. *bows*
BTW, I'm going to Comiket on 15th. I'm not selling anything, though. Just want to enjoy others' fanwork and squee a bit. I have to head back at around 2, but if you want to meet up and chat a bit, message me please? ;-)

Encounter of the cute kind
*clears away kudzu*
OK, so things have been a bit neglected around here. I've missed y'all! I've had probably the worst summer on record, so we won't get into all of that...but even among the crap there have been some really, REALLY good moments. One of which I am willing to post pictures of ;)
During our week at Tybee Island, my parent's ex-FBI neighbor took us out to see the wild dolphins in the Bull River. Long time readers of this journal will remember that we did this last year, and I had a few distant fin shots for my trouble. But somehow, in the intervening year, the dolphins have gotten MUCH friendlier. It is illegal to feed wild dolphins, but methinks there is a small chance that somebody is doing just that. Either that, or we all smelled of herring, I'm not sure.
He was so close I could touch him! This was with my wide-angle lens.

Posing! Tell me this isn't the cutest thing ever.
